An epidemic emergency has been in force in Poland since the weekend - mass events have been canceled, classes at universities, kindergartens and schools have been suspended. Museums, cinemas, restaurants and bars are closed. Borders for foreigners were closed and international passenger air and rail connections were suspended. Szumowski was asked on Radio Zet if the government planned to extend the period of social quarantine. "At the end of the week or the beginning of next week, this decision will have to be made," he replied. He added that the government does not rule out extending this period. "If the number of patients increases, we should respond by tightening the precautions," he said. So far, more than 300 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Poland. Five infected people have died.
