"This social discipline, along with mutations, are critical elements that will determine the pace at which the pandemic will develop," said Niedzielski on Friday.

"Another risk is emerging in the form of a third pandemic wave," said the minister.

"I think that, looking at the results, we can say that the third wave of the pandemic is already in Poland. It is not a question whether it is there and whether it will appear, but what size it will reach in the near future. Today, the number of infections is about 8,800 new cases. Comparing this today  result with Friday's last week, we can see that the increase has reached about 2,400 new cases," Niedzielski reported.

The minister called for social discipline.
