Minister Błaszczak emphasized that the project is in line with the maritime safety concept developed by the presidential office.
"I have approved the request made by the Armament Inspectorate to acquire frigate-class ships for the Polish Navy under the Miecznik program," Defense Minister said on Monday.
He added that the ships "will have significant firepower," comparable to the two squadrons that formed the Naval Missile Unit.
"I hope that the contract for the construction of three ships under the Miecznik program will be signed before the end of this six months" - he said.
"I assume that the process will run smoothly. I will supervise the process, I will not allow the price to be overestimated, and I will not allow the requirements to be overstated," the minister assured.
