‘Poland and Slovakia cooperate on key infrastructure projects, such as road and transmission connections on the north-south axis. A new connection between the gas transmission systems of Poland and Slovakia is under construction. The project is on the EU's list of priority infrastructure projects (PCI) and has received funding from the European Union. It is one of the key projects comprising the North-South Gas Corridor, which will enable direct gas transmission between Poland and Slovakia and other countries in the region. Consequently, the Poland-Slovakia interconnection will contribute to the diversification of gas supply sources and directions, and thus to the improvement of energy security in our region of Europe’ – said Piotr Mueller – Polish government’s spokesman.
